Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are injectable products that soften and correct lines, correct loss of volume and treat wrinkles and folds in the skin.

Dermal fillers are commonly used to:

Enhance natural lip lines

Plump lips

Fine lines around the lips

Smooth crows feet

Tear Troughs (under eyes)

Naso-labial folds (nose to corner of mouth)

Marionette lines (corner of mouth down to chin)

Cheekbone enhancement

Cheek and temple filling for volume loss

Non surgical nose jobs – Dermal fillers offer a long lasting treatment to even out an uneven bump on your nose, or to make an unsymmetrical nose appear straighter, it can also be used to ‘lift’ the tip of your nose.

Virtual face lift (correct volume loss areas and along jawline in association with Botox to give the effect of a lift)

Hand rejuvenation

Treatment of painful feet

A local anaesthetic cream or sometimes an injection is used to numb the area and the procedure takes between fifteen minutes to an hour.

There are a variety of dermal fillers on the market, which vary in their composition; several products can be used in combination for a bespoke treatment which successfully targets problem areas while maintaining a natural look. The most commonly used material is hyaluronic acid (HA) and Calcium hydroxyl-apatite microspheres. These are natural, non-animal based, stabilised products which hydrates and volumises the tissue.

Most patients choose dermal filler products due to:Safety – over 10 million dermal filler treatments performed over 10 years

Natural – tissue tailored HA resembles the skins own material

Long lasting – but not permanent (typical results last 3-24 months)

Non-animal – reducing the risk of adverse reactions (only 1 in 20 000)

Quick and simple – most treatments take 30mins to complete

Wrinkle Relaxing Injections

Botulinum toxin type ‘A’, commonly referred to as Botox® is an injectable purified protein. When injected into a target muscle it causes relaxation of the muscle resulting in the loss or reduction of fine lines or wrinkle to that area. By the same process of relaxation it can lift areas by relaxing their opposing muscles. Botox® is also an effective treatment for excessive sweating. It works by reducing the signalling between the junction of the nerve ending and sweat gland.

Botox® is commonly used to:

Relax fine lines and wrinkles to the eye area, between the eyes, forehead and above the lip

Elevate eye brows – Elevates the middle of the eyebrow and reduces hooding of the eyelid

Fine lines around the lips

Smooth crows feet

Nefertiti Lift (Lower Face Laxity) – Improves jaw line definition and reduces laxity in the lower face

Neck (Turkey Neck) – Reduces the appearance of unsightly cords in the neck

Tension/Migraine Headache – Clinical trials have shown that Botox® can reduce the incidence of tension headaches due to muscle spasm

Gummy Smile – Reduces excessive exposure of the upper gum on smiling

Marionettes (Jowls) – Reduces the appearance of jowls and helps to lift the corners of the mouth. (Usually used in combination with Dermal Fillers)

Chin – Reduces the appearance of dimples on the chin and horizontal chin creases

Nose (Hooked Nose) – upturns the tip of the nose reducing the appearance of a hooked nose

Bunny Lines (Nasal Lines) – Reduces the appearance of fine lines down the sides of the upper nose

Treatment of painful feet

Treatment of excessive sweating – significant sweat reduction is achieved within 2 weeks and the results can last for up to 12 month.

The result of Botox injections is not permanent because the nerve ending re-establishes it’s signalling by forming new nerve sprouts. This sprouting takes approximately 3-6 months, at which point the muscle regains it’s activity and the common skin problem, fine lines & wrinkles begin to reappear.

Is Botox® dangerous?

  • No – administered in the correct manner by a skilled professional carries very little risk. Botox has a proven safety record since the 1970s.
